Professor Vrassidas Leopoulos is a Mechanical and Electrical Engineer specialized in Indujstrial Engineering, serving at the Sector of Industrial Management and Operational Research, School of Mechanical Engineering, National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). He holds a Phd of the university PARIS IX Dauphine. He specialises in Quality Management Systems, Project Management, Industrial Facilities Planning and Industrial Information Technology. Before his nomination as a Lecturer in the National Technical University of Athens (1996) he was an invited lecturer  in the Technical University of Crete (1989 - 1995). He has been active for several years as a consultant in production engineering in both industrial and services providing firms. His research interests cover quality management, risk management, project management and production systems. He has undertaken or supervised several applied projects in the Greek industry concerning quality management, project management, risk management, facilities management and ERP implementation. He holds actually the position of Director of the Metrotechnics (Metrology) Laboratory of the School of Mechanical Engineering which has been ELOT EN ISO/IEC 17025 accredited with scope of accreditation measurement Tests. He is the co-director of the post graduate program “Athens Postgraduate Program in Business Administration - Athens MBA”.

Areas of Research

Quality Management

Our experience and research interests rest mainly in the fields of Quality Management Systems, Regulations and Requirements of Quality Assurance systems, Business Continuity Management Systems

Apart from quality management and business continuity management which constitute a core research element, we are working and researching in the field of  project management, project scheduling, project resource allocation with application of sophisticated algorithms, project management standards (ISO 21500, PMBOK, ELOT1429) and multicritera decision analysis in project decision making (AHP/ANP).

Risk Management

In addition to the previously presented research field, we are working and researching in the field of risk managenet both in the frame of Quality Management Systems and Project Risk Management. As main guideline is used the standard ΕΛΟΤ ISO 31000 both on the quantitative risk analysis as well as on qualitative/systemic risk analysis.

Metrology

In parallel to the previously mentioned research areas we are very interested and work in the field of metrology. The Metrotechnics (Metrology) Laboratory of the School of Mechanical Engineering which has been ELOT EN ISO/IEC 17025 accredited with scope of accreditation measurement Tests.
